You know me, I just LOVE country music. It's the worm-infested apple of my eye. It's the soothing sandpaper on my hemorrhoids. It in no way makes me want to punch myself in the ear until it bleeds.

But SCIENCE. Science is the half-n-half in my cup of tea, baby.

Now if one were to, say, mix science and country music, well...the sciencey sciencey sweetness would totally take away the bitter, face-twisting tang of twangy-steel-guitar tannins. If only there were some way to hybridize the two.....

As a follow up to my post about why I can't vote for Barack Obama, which ostensibly was all about PAUL WELLER (as everything in my world ends up being), I am reminded that original post started with my personal voting philosophy, which is all about hair.

Does this make me more inclined or less inclined to go back on my vow not to vote for Obama?:


Hmm.....  The hair has a certain "Willis" quality to it, which is a plus.  But he's called "Barry" in this era - def minus on that one.

And his hair just cannot compete in any way, shape, or form with the Hair of Weller:

When John Edwards dropped out of this year's presidential popularity contest, I decided 'Fuck it, I ain't votin' now at all!"  No, his infedielity didn't bother me when that came out a few months later.  In fact that just made Edwards MORE awesome and made me miss him more.  I mean, he was the ONLY candidate with decent hair, and everyone knows that the only reason to vote for someone is based on their hair.

But then....then some people started guilt tripping me pretty hard.  I think I may have actually said aloud I'd vote for Obama last week, but that I "wouldn't mean it!"  I mean, I may not give a shit about politics, they may be all the same interchangable stooges, but the idea of some Hockey Mom Redneck from Butthole Alaska who thinks "intelligent design" is anything but a joke and who doesn't stand up for her own right not to be told what she can and can't do with her body being in charge of the country when ol' John McCain goes off the deep end and locks himself in a bamboo cage in the middle of the Florida Everglades to relive the "good ol' days"?  Not a cool one. 

So I thought briefly that I'd throw my penny down the wishing well with all the other saps who believe there's something at the bottom besides rotten leaves and spiders.



So where's the poling place?  I'll go pretend to be a citizen for one day and then ignore it for 4 more years, m'kay?  Happy now?

That madness lasted a week.  Then there was last night. 

Paul Weller, The Paul Weller, aka The Owner of My Soul, My Personal Jesus/God, The Modfather, The Only Man Who Matters, was supposed to be on the Letterman show Wednesday night.  AWESOME.  TiVo me up, boyeee!

Because Barack Obama was on.  More or less ONLY Barack Obama was on.  Lebron James had 30 seconds to tell David Letterman what the sport of basketball is, but otherwise it was all Obama.
